No matter where life has you today, may you know this day you are radically loved, unceasingly thought about, and passionately pursued by the God who made you and sent his Son for you! These aren’t just nice ideas, but the truth of God found on the pages of scripture!

Check out Psalm 139:1-12, 17:

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
iIf I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;
Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You…
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

Know today that the God who loved you so much he sent his only begotten Son (John 3:16) to purchase your freedom from the dominion of sin (Col. 1:13-14) by dying on the cross of Calvary, is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He loved you enough then, and he loves you just as passionately now—no matter what’s going on or what you’ve done, said, or thought. He knows you inside and out and He. Loves. You.Nothing—nothing—could ever change that.

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.  (Romans 5:10)

He knows the state in which we were born—we were sold… trafficked… into slavery to God’s enemy (Rom. 7:14). Long before you and I were born, when we were still in our enslaved state, working for the enemy—and therefore being enemies of God ourselves—God sent His Son to save us! We didn’t earn that. We didn’t need to! He simply loved us from the beginning, knew our situation—that we desperately needed rescuing—and so he sent His Son to do just that!

Wherever today has you—whether in the highest of highs, deepest of lows, or somewhere in the middle—know—believe!—you are loved and you’ve been bought back from slavery by the blood of Jesus on the cross. If you believe this, you’ve been saved by God! John 3:16 says, “…that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “for you have been saved by grace through faith…” Romans 4:5 says, “But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.” Faith—not a prayer, not going to church, not reading your Bible, not being good—receives the rescue of Jesus! If you’ve believed in Jesus’ death on the cross as the price paid to save—that is, rescue or deliver—you from being under the dominion of sin, then you are saved indeed!
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” (John 5:24)
The good news of the gospel is that it does not stop when we believe! We don’t become rescued from slavery and then have to wait until heaven to enjoy freedom!  The truth is, everything you could possibly need to live free today is found in Christ, who rescued you and now shares His very life with you (Col. 2:10, 3:4). Romans 5:10 above said that if you were reconciled to God while still an enemy, how much more, now that you are reconciled will he save you in His life!? Reconciliation—no longer working for an enemy, but now being a citizen and heir of the kingdom of God—took place the moment you believed Jesus was your rescuer. But continued salvation awaits you! Since you remain in the body you were born in, the one which made you a slave, you need Jesus to save you from it moment by moment. He saved you while yet an enemy. How much more will He save you while as a citizen of His very kingdom!?
Knowing who we are in Christ is key to our ongoing salvation from the power of sin in our bodies! Ephesians 1:3 says that we’ve been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. I used to wonder what in the world that had to do with me now! It seemed so far off, so removed from me in the present. It seemed only for when I go to heaven. But I was wrong. Dead wrong. The moment we were reconciled to God, saved from slavery to the devil, we became children of God! The blessing spoken of in Ephesians 1 is a parental blessing that a father gives his heirs. And now that you’ve been purchased—adopted—into the kingdom of the beloved Son of God—you have everything you could possibly need to live the free life of Christ now!
Before, we were ruled by the lies of the enemy: “you should be afraid of that”, “you should be worried”, “what if ________ happens”, “isn’t he/she beautiful… don’t you want her/him?”, “don’t you want that _______?”, “isn’t your mother-in-law awful!”, “your wife is wretched”, “you aren’t smart enough”, “the worst is going to happen”, “he really deserves a piece of my mind”, and on and on and on we could go…
But now!!!! in Christ, we have everything we need to live from truth, from freedom! What Christ has—that is all the glorious truth of God—we have! Because we’re in Him now! We started out in Adam, the first of mankind. What happened to Adam happened to us. But when we believed in Jesus, our origins transferred from Adam to Christ—the “second Adam” (1 Cor. 15:45)—the first of a new kind of species!! The moment we believed, the Holy Spirit came to live in us (Eph. 1:13). The Holy Spirit placed us into the death and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:3-4), releasing us from our state of slavery under sin and in Adam, and placing us into Christ Jesus, who is seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven, “far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”
This is the amazing situation we, the purchased of Christ, find ourselves in now! And if we walk by faith in Jesus, mentally calculating that everything we need is in Jesus, and trusting He’ll provide truth and freedom in every moment-to-moment need,He will!!“As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,” (Col. 2:6).You received freedom—your new origin in Christ—by faith. Now walk in that same way—by faith!“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Cor. 5:7)

If this proves challenging today, this week, this month… take heart! We, by default, walk according to our old Adamic state of slavery. It’s the way we were born and have always functioned. But as you go, as often as you remember, change your mind to one of faith. Believe Who you are in now! Believe He’s infinitely good and faithful and will provide the truth and power to live free in your thoughts, words, and actions moment by moment in the present. If you don’t give up, faith will slowly become more and more natural for you.

Oh you are so dearly loved! You have EVERYTHING you need for life today. It’s all in your Savior! Oh we have a good good Father! Who sent His good good Son. Who sent the good good Helper (the Holy Spirit), for life now! Today!

He is your rest and your freedom.

Walk in Him today!

All my love to you this new day!
