ABOUT KATIE MOON | The Founder
Deep thinker, relentless Biblical researcher, and passionate lover of God, Katie Moon is a writer and teacher of all things Christ and Him crucified. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design and then working as a professional illustrator, God providentially brought Katie to enter seminary. After four and a half years of seminary study, she began to teach, write and founded her non-profit ministry, In Black and Light, where she reaches the world with her innovative Bible teaching. Her forthcoming book series, called Walking in the Light (Katie’s primary focus and Magnum Opus, so to speak), is in process of being researched and written, but the profound message within it trickles into everything God is leading her to develop in the interim. Until the series is released, you can keep up to date with its progress, read her blog devotionals, read her short devotionals at ShortDailyDevotions.com, and hear her teach what is becoming the precursor to Walking in the Light: her developing series called Prepare the Way, which she is also periodically publishing on the blog.
Katie is married to Garrett, a fellow-designer, entrepreneur, and CEO, and together they live the wild adventure of parenting three boys, Judah (10), Finnley (8), and Benton (5). The Moon family lives and works from Bismarck, ND.
ABOUT ‘IN BLACK AND LIGHT’ | The Ministry
The work of Jesus Christ in becoming like us, taking our sin upon Him, dying a substitutionary cross-death for us, being buried, raised, and permanently ascended to the right hand of the Father has significance for both the unbeliever and believer alike. We believe this significance reaches far beyond “going to heaven when you die” and living a “morally good life”. In Black and Light exists to expose the magnificent significance of Jesus’ cross-work for the justification of the unbeliever and for the present tense (as well as future) salvation of the believer. This ministry exists to communicate the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ for all people (2 Cor. 4:6).
The significance of this good news of the cross-work of Christ has been largely lost not only to the non-christian world, but even to today’s Church. It is our burden, passion, and vision to not only see multitudes justified by faith, but to see the entire global Church wake from her sleep and walk in the light as she has been given to do (Eph. 5:14, John 11:9-10, 1 John 1:7)!
The Teaching Ministry
We believe that the Lord has called on and gifted us to produce and share curriculum and various learning tools that expose from the Scriptures the truth of who the justified person has become in the sent, dead, buried, resurrected, and glorified Firstborn Son of God. We believe that we are gifted and called to accomplish this purpose through written and verbal teaching. Our focus will be on the development of Bible Study curriculum for individual and group use.
