Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32, NIV)

Lies are like parasites. They cling to us and suck the life right out of us.

From our earliest memories, most of us, if we really think about it, can remember a particular lie or lies spoken over us which forever shaped our perception of who we are.

And it is on these lies that we began to build our life.

It is on these lies (or the things we’ve done because of them), we, perhaps, concluded that God couldn’t love us.

GOD’S PERFECT LOVE

You and I desperately need to become clear on this: God’s love is perfect.

You and I were trafficked and taken captive into slavery to the darkness. But…

God so loved the world… (John 3:16)

Friends, God never got over us. Never. No matter what slavery did to us. He still so loved us that he sent Jesus to rescue us, bring us home to him, and give us our lives back.

WHAT FORGIVENESS IS

You and I must come to understand every concept in the Bible from God’sperspective.

Because God very intentionally chose to inspire his Scriptures in Hebrew and Greek, we look to those languages for clues to his intended meaning. And so, the Greek word for forgiveness comes from a couple words which together mean “to let go, release.”

You and I need God to release us from the doubt of his perfect, unquenchable love. This is what forgiveness is.

Before we believed in Jesus, we were bound by the law of the flesh: the enemy’s voice of doubt concerning God’s perfect love. It was like our hands and feet were tied by his lies and we were held captive in enemy territory. Like we were prisoners of war.

But when Jesus died on the cross, he untied those cords (those lies) holding us in foreign territory. And he began to lead us with his cords of kindness back home to himself.

I drew them with gentle cords, With bands of love, And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them. (Hosea 11:4, NKJV)

Friend, God loves you perfectly. He never hasn’t. Let this law lead you… free you.

Because the truth of his love really does set us free. (John 8:32

Today, would you dare to receive the perfect love God already has for you, is expressing to you, and is holding out to you to fill you and give you peace?
